SUBJECT: USE HOLD CODE "N" FOR STEAM AND FLOW-NOT C-BITS IN MARK 8 SERIAL MILTRONS
Dear MILNOR Dealer/User:
The Hold Code for all steam and flow-not C-Bits must be set to "N" - as shown on attached EXHIBIT A (Section 11 Page 5) and EXHIBIT B (Section 11 Page 8) of your manual MATMTRN8AE. Here's why:
STEAM:
If the steam Hold Code is "Y", the steam also turns off when the tunnel goes into hold. See attached EXHIBIT B "HOW THE C-BIT HOLD CODES WORK" at the top of Section 11 Page 8.
But, when the steam is turned off, the bath temperature will fall, and likely cause a further wait for the bath temperatures to be restored when the system is ready to start up again. This is why all steam C-Bit Hold Codes should always be set to "N".
NOTE: The water valves also turn off whenever the tunnel goes into Hold for any reason (receiving device not ready, no goods available, the tunnel is stopped at lunchtime, etc.) This is because if the water continued to run, the chemistry in the tunnel would be diluted.)
FLOW-NOT:
Flow-not C-Bits should have a "N" Init Code because a "hold" does not ordinarily change a flow-not decision.
Unfortunately, Figures 1 and 2 of attached Exhibit C presently in your manual, depict a Hold Code "Y" for both steam and flow-not C-Bits. This is an error. Corrected Section 11 Page 2 (Exhibit D) is attached.
Please check your MILTRON and reprogram the steam and flow-not C-Bit Hold Codes if it is necessary. (It will only take a few minutes and will not affect any other programming.)
Thank you for your continuing confidence.
Yours very truly,
