SUBJECT: DON'T WASTE WATER AND ENERGY WHEN STARTING UP YOUR MILNOR CBW TUNNEL WASHER!

Gentlemen:

Some users are wasting water and energy during every start-up!

Read the attached section of the MILTRON manual entitled "HOW TO RESTORE WATER LEVELS AND TEMPERATURES AFTER A PROTRACTED SHUTDOWN". (The most important information is encircled.) Make sure that your operating personnel are following these procedures.

We have discovered that many users simply turn on the console and tunnel power and command "CONTROL+D". This starts the tunnel turning and opens the water and steam valves. But the water flow doesn't stop once the water levels have been satisfied, even if the commanded temperatures have not been achieved. This discharges partially heated water to the sewer. This wastes water and energy and makes start-up times much longer.

Stopping the water flow once all water levels have been satisfied saves water and energy!

The enclosed instructions are applicable only to Mark VIII Serial MILTRONS (multi-color displays). A separate bulletin outlining a slightly different start-up procedure for aMark & and earlier non-Serial MILTRONS (monochrome displays) will be sent to dealers and users of record of those machines.

After a lengthy shutdown, it is important to restor the chemical concentrations in the tunnel otherwise the proper chemical concentrations will not be restored until many transfers have occurred. Read "HOW TO ACHIEVE CHEMICAL CONCENTRATIONS AT START-UP" on page 2 of the attached manual sections.

This is another example of MILNOR's policy of helping our users get the best out of their machines!

Thank you for your continuing confidence

Yours very truly,
