SUBJECT: DON'T WASTE WATER AND ENERGY WHEN STARTING UP YOUR MILNOR CBW TUNNEL WASHER!
Gentlemen:
Some users are wasting water and energy during every start-up!
We have discovered the many users simply turn on the console and tunnel power and command "CONTROL + D". This starts the tunnel turning and opens the water and steam valves. But the water flow doesn't stop once the water levels have been satisfied, even if the commanded temperatures have not been achieved. This discharges partially heated water to the sewer. This waste water and energy and makes start-up times much longer.
You will save water and energy by stopping the water flow once all water levels have been satisfied (when "A-" becomes "A+" in the lower left corner of the MILTRON screen)... while still permitting the steaming to continue. Here's how:
HOW TO SAVE WATER AND ENERGY AT START-UP
Turn on the tunnel in the morning and start it turning with the **CONTROL+D** command. When A- becomes A+ (thus indicating that all the water levels in the CBW have been satisfied), execute a **CONTROL+K** command which stops the CBW rotation and turns off the water flow - but keeps all steaming enabled. This permits the CBW to continue to heat up without any additional water flow - Through conserving water and energy because the partially heated water won't be lost down the sewer. Once the proper temperatures have been achieved, CONTROL+D will start the tunnel turning again.
After a lengthy shutdown, it is important to restore the chemical concentrations in the tunnel, otherwise, the proper chemical concentrations will not be restored until after many transfers have occurred. However, the **CONTROL+R** command to restore chemical concentrations after a lengthy shut down is available only when the CBW is turning - thus after using the second CONTROL+D command. A reprint of the manual section entitled "INITIAL CHEMICAL INJECTION (CONTROL R)" is attached for your convenience.
This another example of MILNOR's policy of helping our users get the best out of their machines!
Thank you for your continuing confidence.

INITIAL CHEMICAL INJECTION (CONTROL R)
At start-up and when the CBW has been stopped for an extended period of time (allowing chemical concentrations to diminish), **CONTROL + R** provides for rapid build-up of chemical to working concentrations. When this command is properly entered, all C-Bits assigned to Init Codes C, D (and if levels and temps are satisfied, Init Codes E and F) will be simultaneously activated for the On-Times called for by the formula codes currently in each module. If the rotation counter has begun counting down , it will automatically be reset to 20.
The Control R feature will function in accordance with the following:
1. Control R will function during HOLD conditions and also during countdown providing there are at least 3 reversals remaining.
2. Control R will not function while the CBW is stopped or if there are fewer than 3 reversals remaining before transfer. However, the command may be entered and will remain in memory until the start command is given, at which time the command will execute.
3. If Control R is entered while C-BITS influenced by the Control R command are still ON (as from a previous Control R command or from normal wash formula programming), the On-Times resulting from subsequent Control R commands will override the previous On-Times remaining.
4. If all prerequisites are met, the Control R command will execute within one reversal (normally 11 seconds) after it is entered. (Note however, that it may take substantially longer for the C-BITS (chemical injections) to time out.)
