MilFact – Staph Guard® Barrier Washers

• In the 1960s, Milnor became the first company in the industry to develop the concept of barrier washers, which we call the Staph Guard® system.

• In 1967, Milnor was awarded U.S. Patent 3,318,122 for the design of barrier washer-extractors for hospitals.

• The washers have a physical barrier so that soiled linens are separate from the clean laundry side.

• The Staph Guard washers are also equipped with two separate sets of doors, one set on the soiled side (for loading) and the second on the clean side (for unloading).

• Safety interlocks automatically maintain the integrity of complete separation. Loading and unloading doors cannot open simultaneously.

• What makes Milnor’s barrier machines unique is the StaphAIRTROL™ control. In essence, the StaphAIRTROL is a check valve so that only clean side air enters the washer’s vent.

• StaphAIRTROL keeps soiled side air from entering into the washer once the wash cycle program has been started, even when the cycle is completed and the clean side doors are opened. StaphAIRTROL keeps the clean linen from being contaminated with soil side air during the wash, rinse and unloading process, thus preserving the hygienically clean linen into the clean side once the cleaning process is complete.

• The entire laundry should be designed with positive air pressure on the clean side and negative air pressure on the soil side.

• Our latest MilTouch-Ex™ touchscreen control technology and RinSave® water saver feature are standard features on our Staph Guard washers.
